June 15, 2019 @ 8:30 am - 10:00 amFree
Morning explorers: Exploring Beasts of London
Explore the museum while it’s quiet at this event for families with children who have an autistic spectrum condition.
Become a morning museum explorer at this relaxed early opening, sensitive to the needs of children with autistic spectrum conditions. Siblings and children with other types of SEND are very welcome.
The galleries will be open exclusively to Morning Explorer families from 8.30-10am. There are also extra activities you can take part in.
Our immersive experience Beasts of London will also be open for Morning explorer families, free of charge. This is an audio visual experience, with lots of lights, sounds and moving images. We will reduce the audio and provide ear defenders to borrow.
Visual stories of both the galleries and the Beasts of London experience will be emailed upon booking.
The extra activities taking place around the galleries are:
Dance and move like an animal: Follow animal footprints around the galleries which will guide you to dance and move like an animal. You can take some flashing lights and dressing up items round with you too.
Object handling: We have some real museum artefacts that you can hold, and hear more about their stories.
Lion artwork: Find our large lion artwork and add to it with sensory fabrics and craft materials.
Animal mask making: Help yourself to a template and some craft materials to make an animal mask.
With thanks for the support of John Horniman’s Children’s Trust.
