Relaxed Performance – Styx, stones and Roman bones @ Museum of London, Docklands
August 11, 2018 @ 11:30 am - 12:15 pmFree
Join this amusing interactive summer show that explores how the Romans treated their dead.
An ancient soul is stuck in modern London and she needs your help!
Roman Londoner Grata passed away over 1,800 years ago, and according to her beliefs, her soul should have crossed the River Styx to the Underworld long ago. For some reason, she’s still here! Can you help her find her way to where she belongs?
Join us to learn what this ancient Londoner has seen over the centuries and explore the differences between modern London and Roman Londinuim. Then, help Grata finish the journey she started more than 1,800 years ago by recreating a Roman funeral to guide her to the Underworld.
Celebrate Grata’s life with music and other Roman traditions in the interactive and sensory show aimed at families with children aged seven and above.
Please be aware that the show discusses human remains and replica bones may be shown.
A relaxed performance will take place on 11 Aug at 11:30am. This show will be adjusted in terms of sound, movement and minor script adjustments. This session is available for visitors who might benefit from a more relaxed environment including those with autism, learning difficulties , sensory or communication needs and their families.
